Hi, since my number was moved from Virgin to O2, I have been receiving a large amount of calls from various numbers, trying to get access to my account details. Today I also received an email from news@o2-email.co.uk claiming there’s an issue with my direct debit.
imagine I’m not the only one with this issue. Is O2 doing anything about this? Is there anything you can tell me why this is happening?

@Lobi

Scammers trying it on as they know about the number migrations and it's easy to programme number ranges into auto dialers.

Make sure your marketing preferences are correctly set in your MyO2 and block any numbers that call you.

Also, there have been some payment issues recently, so worth checking with O2 that yours is OK.

No mystery

Spammers, knowing the change has taken place have taken vast allocations of Virgin issued numbers and fed them into their auto dialers to take advantage of customers present 'disorientation', for want of a better word.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

I am getting more and more of these and it is getting annoying. Last one was asking about doing an O2 satisfaction survey. I searched online and found this. They try to get your personal information out of you. I wish there was an automated way to block these calls.

Scam calls are not unique to O2. It is a worldwide plague without a current solution.
