I applied for the Disney+ free 6 month trial on Monday 20/12/21. I was told I would receive a text with a link within 24hours so I could activate the offer, no such text arrived. subsequently I went on to my extras and the offer is there but when I try to activate it it comes up with an error message, I have also been in touch with customer service but with no luck. if someone could help that would be great

This is a known issue that O2 need to sort out.
I'd suggest you all report it on social media.
If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this.
