I can receive calls but not make them even though they are included in my contract.

Try manually selecting T-Mobile

No worries found out my device will not work with 4g, unfortunately I wasn't informed this when I purchased the new contract

It's only PAYG phones that don't support 4g CALLING but all other 4g functions will work fine.

As you mention contract, this is in no way applicable to you, so who told you that?
