sim swap

I reported my phone as stolen and in my local 02 shop the assistant arranged a sim swap into another phone. However I am unable to send texts, make calls etc from the new phone. Does a sim swap take effect immediately or is there something else I must do? Thanks.

you need to contact customer service and have the lost/stolen bar removed from your account. It would have been applied when you reported it lost.

Generally a sim swap is pretty quick but it can take anything up to 24 hours.

Have you turned the phone off then on again a few times so the network can find you?

If after that time it hasn't swapped call CS.

Only cs can lift the bar - the shop can't do it.

Rule of thumb. A shop sells stuff not fix them. At least every enquiry I threw at them anyway. A little bit cynical perhaps however my personal experience does not reflect the performance of the company in general.
