Hello everyone,

I added a new contract to my account a few days ago (So, now have 2 phones on same account).  I've just received my new bill (covering 25 June-25 July)

First of all, O2 have charged me a full month for the 2nd number (although I only received the sim 3 or 4 days ago).

Secondly, total payment on 2nd number was supposed to be £6/month - O2 are trying to charge £6 + VAT.

Not happy.  I've tried the chatbot thing - hopeless.

How can I get this resolved?  Any help gratefully received.

THanks

@Dan251

You pay a month in advance so that bill is perfectly normal.

VAT is only billed additionally on business contracts so if you have a normal consumer contract, you need to query it with O2, although the bill breakdown will always show the vat element separately, so may not be extra owing to the pro rata billing system.

If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this
Thanks

Your first bill will be pro rata, which means that we'll charge you for one full month's airtime, as well as any airtime you use in those first few days before your billing cycle starts. If you've upgraded your device, your billing date will stay the same.

Thanks for the speedy responses.

So, and forgive my denseness, even though the bill is 25 June-25 July, O2 are charging for the following month (and not the billing period).  Is that right?

As for the VAT thing: I'll query it if the same next month.

Thanks for your help.

It's because the new bill started during the June to July billing period but the month in advance is July to August.

Yes you get charged for the first few days before the billing date and then a month in advance

That is why it's slightly higher than your agreed tariff

Next bill will be as it should be
