I took out contract via mobiles.co.uk on o2 network last oct 2019. I upgraded early still having 12 months left on old contract, last eve via o2 website.  i have tried to unlock old device by giving 02 the imei number and o2 have come back saying the device is not an o2 device?? and they cannot unlock. i'm confused because my monthly payment goes to o2 not mobiles.co.uk. can someone help me please?

That means the device is not locked.

Just put a non O2 sim in it and it will work fine.

Guide: Unlocking an O2 phone to use a different SIM card

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

You're welcome @scottw

It's just another of O2's ambiguous error messages.
