Hi
I have just become another person to activate a 4G plan on my phone and living in an area with very good 2G & 3G coverage from the local mast located on top of a block of flats just 5-700 yrds away I find that the 4G signals are not coming from that mast, I'm also aware that O2 & Vodafone are supposed to be sharing sites too and the local vodafone site is just next to it on the next block of flats.
So why does my 4G reception suck and will this be fixed as time moves along?
P.s I'm in Birmingham, Just switched on today!
An app on my phone pin points the mast about a mile or kmore away, and with 800mhz spectrum being used I can see this as being possibly correct.

Hi,
If you have a 4g sim and tariff along with a 4g capable handset you should be getting the speeds.
It can take a few hours on a new account to settle.
Turning the phone off and on helps reset your service and or ring o2 on 202 just to ensure your account is ok.
What phone are you using ?
Have you checked your service status ?
Download the speedtest app to see what speeds you are getting.

HI I have activated 4G on my Xperia Z and have gained access to the faster speeds but coverage is lacking attrociously behind 3G & 2G considering its being broadcast on a lower frequency than both technologies and its not just at home, I went to a friends who is on the coverage map for Indoor and outdoor signals yet I could only get 1-2 bars outdoors and disconected indoors, and whilst on my journey home I still passed through areas where 4G was supposedly good indoors and out and still only got 1-2 bars apart for a split second where full signal appeared.
I have also visited a friend who lives right by a mast that broadcasts 2G & 3G signals and obviously get full signal (5 bars) but 4G again was barely existant!
