Please can you help? I've searched the boards but can't find the answer to this question.

I need to call the USA to a company and I know I can do it free via WiFi calling. I have changed the settings on my iPhone to enable WiFi calling, but how do I know it will use WiFi free rather king up a massive bill for calling the States?

How does the phone know to make the call using WiFi, or will it do it automatically when I am using WiFi, so example at home?

Im getting myself very confused and really would appreciate some help.  If you are kind enough to explain, please assume I know nothing and walk me through it.

I can use FaceTime and WhatsApp calling free, but the number I want to call is a business number so I can't use either of these facilities to make the call.

thank you so much

Jean

@JMI

It is NOT free to use wifi calling to call USA at all.

The only free way you can call an international number is via Whatsapp but only if the recipient also has a WhatsApp number.

Skype won't be free either unfortunately.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Could you use Skype? https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Off-Topic/A-Guide-To-Skype/td-p/1305104

I don't use Wifi Calling and not sure it could be used to call an international number. I'll tag @MI5 and @Bambino  to see if they can advise further.
