So I just upgraded from Sim Only to a Refresh contract, and want to unlock my iPhone 8.
It seems from reading other historical forum posts that O2 typically wait a few months before they allow the unlocking of flagships... but on the unlocking page it says this:
If you've got an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus you won't be able to get it unlocked unless you've paid off your Device Plan in full.
Now the Samsung S8 and S8+ came out last March (I think) yet they're still not allowing them to be unlocked.
I'm considering returning the upgrade because I want to be able to use my Vodafone sim in the phone when I am abroad (have heard O2 roaming is shocking) and I am about to start a new job as Cabin Crew so need to be able to use my phone abroad with no issues!
Perhaps unlocking policy has changed indefinitely now?

It's usually around the 6 month mark before they unlock the latest iPhone. It will be announced on the unlock webpages when they will unlock them.
It's always been this way and I don't see them changing policy at the moment.
As it stands you need to pay off the iPhone in full or use the 14 day change of mind clause. Then you would have to take out a contract with the iphone unlocked. CPW iphones lock to the first sim inserted so you need to check all suppliers.

iPhones are different. No idea why other than to stop you selling the phone? No network should lock any phone. Period
