Transfer of ownership

I have recently just taken out a device plan under my own name. I also have a sim only contract under my mums name. In store they said I can get my mum to do a transfer of ownership so I can keep the same number but what will happen to my sim only contract as that does not run out until February 2022. Will I have to pay the next upcoming payment and a cancellation fee perhaps?

The account the number is coming from will be terminated at the point of number transfer and a final bill for it generated which will include fees up to the end date of the contract.
