Tried finding the answer to this but can’t so thought I’d try here, basically I’ve just got a sim only contract if I ever decide to get a phone with o2 will I have to credit check again or do they not credit check on upgrades, is there a minimum term etc before upgrading?. Thanks.

There are no credit checks for upgrades.

Minimum is 3 months but in some cases it's 6 months.

Customer service will confirm which it is for you.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

It does say 6 months on my account but I’ve read on here it’s actually 3 months but the system defaults to 6 for some reason, is this true?. Thanks.

It varies by customer but in general if you pay in full on time for 3 months you should be OK.

T&C's here https://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/rewards/sim-only-upgrade-to-refresh-after-3-months-terms-and...

From reading the terms you are now credit checked, as the rules around CCA's are that you need to pass the Credit and affordability checks, and the 3months is for eligible customers now.

"You are eligible for O2 Refresh (subject to credit status, eligibility and Refresh terms)."

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

Spoke to CS and there isn’t any additional credit checks apparently when upgrading from sim only.
