SMS over O2 WiFiCall - Plans to enable the service

As much as there is no support to provide SMS over WiFi (the same way as EE and Three do), I would like to know if there are plans to implement such functionality before the end of this year?

I am based in a shielded office where WiFi calling is the only option. By relying on many services where SMS is playing a big role (i.e. banking, 2FA), I am now unable to use those services fully. If the situation will not change, I will be forced to transfer all numbers to a provided which can support SMS over WiFi.

Wifi Calling has been a fantastic addition to our network and we can’t wait to bring SMS over Wifi to our network too, but it’s incredibly complex to implement and requires exhaustive testing. We hope to see it available sometime in 2020, but we’ll keep customers updated.

How long now since WiFi calling was introduced @Chris_K ?

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Looks like it was around 3 years ago.
