I have 3 empty spaces in my top 10 numbers, but when I try to add a friends new number, it keeps saying it is not an o2 number, but it is. Phone and sim from o2 shop.

Presumably then, calling O2 to O2 costs the network zilch and calling O2 to any other networks costs O2 a connection fee of next to zilch?
So most tariffs now include unlimited any network calls and texts so the unlimited O2 to O2 does seem to be a little outdated and in essence network-ist.
But there again if your best-ist friend changed network would you refrain from contacting him?
Sorry that's too deep and unmeaningful for me at this time of morning even if my head wasn't broken.
