New SIM not working in phone

Hi, I recently lost me iPhone (O2 pay monthly), and was advised to go to an O2 store to get a replacement SIM (and to verify it there). I bought an unlocked phone (I checked with O2 via Live Chat that this would be fine) and placed the SIM in it.

 

The SIM is rocognised by the phone (the O2 Mobile Data details are shown in Settings), but I cannot make/receive calls or texts. Do I need change some settings? Re-verify the SIM? Or get a new SIM (one that's set up differently)? Please help, thanks.
