Moorcroft Debt Recovery

My father-in-law cancelled his account with O2 a few months back. He's now had a letter from Moorcroft chasing an overdue debt, which says that they can make an "offer to reinstate your agreement and remove the suspension". He doesn't want to reactivate the account. Is this just a standard template and we can pay without concern, or are we at risk of O2 opening the account and making more charges here?

We had problems when the account was being closed with apparent fraud and attempts at account takeover, so really just keen to draw a line under this.

@Grymbok

Pay the bill to Moorcroft and tell them you do not want to reinstate the account.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

They won't reinstate the account unless you request it

Just pay them the amount on the letter

Thanks both. Having spoken to father-in-law again, we think the charges they’re trying to collect on are from after he cancelled, he’s already reported them as fraud to O2 but they’ve been passed to Moorcroft anyway. Guess we need to start by calling O2 again!
