I can't get online all the time

Hi all

Apologies in advance for stupid questions!

I'm new to Pay Monthly. My contract mentions including BT Wi-Fi. However, unless I'm at home or at work or at a friends, where I am able to connect to my/their home wi-fi, I can't get online. All that happens is BT Wi-Fi is suggested, but it then asks me to either sign in with my BT log-in info, or to pay to use it.

I'm not used to this, when I was with Pay & Go I could get online standing in the middle of Red Square in Moscow or on a bus travelling through Cambodia! Can anyone advise please?

When wifi is turned off can you see a small G, 3G or H next to the signal bars at the top of the screen? If not, follow this advice here http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Android-Devices-Samsung-HTC-Sony/MMS-and-Mobile-web-settings-for-Nexus-...

There is other info in the main O2 web site if you have a look you may see the answer you are looking for

You register for free O2 Wi-fi here:

http://o2wifi.co.uk/

You can locate hotspots here:

http://consumero2.directoryconnection.com/search.php

Not all BT Wi-fi hotspots are available as some are privately owned.

I have mobile data turned on.. I don't know how to check re. 3G?

Am really sorry, it's my first ever smartphone; and as it's refurbished I don't have any instructions on how to use it so am working it out myself bit by bit!
