Is there a reason as to why my direct debit is being taken out in 2 halfs? Is this normally the case as never had it before and this has been the 2nd month now.

Yes, they take your air time and handset costs out separately. Annoying! But I guess it's about transparency.

Your airtime and device payments are separate as your device plan is a regulated credit agreement and must be treated independant of your airtime service plan.
