Date usage accuracy

I've yet again gone over my 1GB data allowance with two weeks to go. I really begrudge paying for any extra but the throttled speed is pants.

My question is - how accurate is O2's data usage? My iphone recorded mobile data used and it's far less than the 1gb reported by O2. Do i have a leg to stand on if i report this to customer service?

If you believe it is consistently incorrect then Customer Services can have a network investigation done, which usually takes about 5 working days to get back.

In my experience, I've never seen any of them come back saying the data usage was incorrect.

If you are adamant then you could try it?

Or if you have an iPhone download a 3rd Party App called Onavo which is good for measuring it for you?

It's worth a try....
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

data usage reports come via your phone. every time your phone connects it gets logged with O2.

At the end of the day (usually between midnight and 4am) a daily count of data use is presented onto your bill.

A network investigation will confirm if the use reported on your bill is accurate. What they mean by this is that the usage reported on your bill matches what your phone reported to O2.

If you feel that your phone is mis-reporting the data usage then you'd have to investigate and prove that. IE..Apple would need to confirm in writing that they inspected your phone and it is mis-reporting the amount of data it uses.

The chances of that being the case is fairly slim though. It's far more likely that the data counter on your handset is wrong.
