Appear in inbox, but it says I have to download them and INVARIABLY fails, despite dozens of attempts over many days. Why?

What error message do you get?
Do you have working internet and MMS settings? Which phone do you have?

Unsure of settings, attempts to update through O2 website also invariably came up with an error saying the service was not available, which was particularly helpful. Had to manually update internet settings using those from a friends phone so maybe MMS settings just need tweaking, I don't know.

Phone is a Palm Treo 500. Error message reads:

'Not all messages could be sent or received. To try again, press menu, then press Send/Receive.'

Never works. Never. Any advice? Thanks

The Palm Treo isn't capable of receiving the settings. You will have to enter them manually. You can check if the ones you have are correct by looking here www.filesaveas.com

If you list your settings, we can check whether you have put them in correctly.
