Big bundles online application for SIM

If I get a Free Big Bundle SIM online, to change from my current old PAYG which only gives 300 texts and 500MB data, how does one ensure that the SIM that is sent has my existing mobile phone number? Is this entered in the application process for, say, the 500MB SIM/250mins/1000texts. Would it be better to go to one's local O2 store to do this?

You can just call CS on 4445 and ask them to switch your tariff on your current sim card.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Definitely the easiest option, no messing. Call 4445 early morning is your best bet.

Apparently, it's also possible to text, say, 10Bigbundle or 20Bigbundle etc to a certain number to get these packages. How does this work and how would they get your first payment to activate the account?

May be well off here but wouldn't the current SIM card need to be 4g ready if transferring to a new tariff?

The new bundle wouldn't actually activate until your anniversary date assuming you topped up enough money.
