I’m paying £3.99 a month to change my phone anytime I want? 
when I read the small print you have to go to the shop , can’t do it on line unless you pay the whole contract off first? Have I read that right ?

You have to go to the shop. They need to check the old phone over. They will then pay off your outstanding balance and start you on a new contract for the replacement phone.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
