Anyone else experience issues getting your Apple Watch (series 6, WiFi and cellular) connected to your phone/account. New customer to o2 and experiencing appalling customer service, with conflicting information as to how to add the Apple Watch to my account so that I may use the cellular aspect of it. Anyone experience similar issues and if so, how was it resolved?

@Jas2

You need to do this via the apple watch app on your iPhone and agree to sign up to the £5 per month data plan.

Full details can be found here:

https://www.o2.co.uk/help/device-and-sim-support/apple-watch

And go down to Airtime plan.,
- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

@Jas2

How it should work:

Set up the data plan from the watch setup routine and it will walk you through buying an airtime plan.
https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices/apple-watch
Open the Watch app on your iPhone and tap on ‘Mobile Data’.
Then tap ‘Set up mobile data’. You’ll be prompted to sign in with your My O2 username and password.
Once you’ve signed in, select your Apple Watch plan. Follow the steps on the screen to set up your Apple Watch Airtime Plan.
It can take up to 24 hours to activate, but sometimes it might take a little longer.
To check if your new Airtime Plan is active, open the Watch app on your iPhone and tap on ‘Mobile Data’. In the ‘Data Plan’ section, if you see O2 with the word ‘activating’ then you’ll have to wait a little longer for set up to complete. If you see O2 with an orange ‘i’ next to it, then you’re all set up.
If you get an error message at any point, on the iPhone, go to Settings and select Privacy > Motion & Fitness and switch it on.
Then go back to the watch app/Mobile Data/set up mobile data plan and be ready to put your o2 username and password in to the resulting o2 screen. Also, it costs £5 monthly to add the airtime for the Apple Watch, so you'll need to authorise this after entering the o2 user name and password. The phone app will then say 'activating' which can take a day or so, but at that point, you can try doing a phone call direct from the watch to test it.

What errors are you getting?

Thank you both.

when going to the mobile data option in the watch app, I was not getting the automatic redirect to the o2 sign in page. It just said 'When your Apple Watch is not connected to your iPhone, you can continue to make and receive calls and access apps using mobile data. To enable mobile data, add your Apple Watch to your existing iPhone data plan.'.

after another hour online, it seems that I needed to follow these steps '1. To enable Wifi Calling, go to Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling. Make sure Wi-Fi Calling is set to On. To switch off Wifi Calling, set the toggle to Off.2. To switch on 4G Calling, go to Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Options > Enable 4G and then Voice & Data to enable 4G Calling. To switch off 4G Calling, select ‘Data’.

and I was then able to follow the steps you mention within the watch app.
a very frustrating 4hours or so spent in resolving this, with my previous provider it took all of 5 mins. Hoping the rest of my contract with o2 goes better than this and that the o2 staff receive better training and trouble shooting options.......

anyway hope the above helps for anyone who experiences similar.
thanks again to you both for responding!
