hi i’m currently paying for 2 phones with different numbers. i can’t work out how to end my old phone contract.

I had to ring up O2 to transfer my old O2 number to my new O2 contract. Even then they cocked it up the first time and I had to ring them again, but it went through after that. I've still to check they have actually cancelled the old contract.

This can be done by you in your MyO2, @MartW as below:

O2 calculate a refund amount for what you have paid (month in advance) and adjust for the date you took out your new contract as part of the upgrade process. 

If you have bought a second phone outright, then as per @jonsies post, you will need to tell O2 so you avoid any double charging. Good luck.
