Hi, is it legal to charge 50p/minute service charge for a 0843 number?

The following ofcom site lists a 0843 service charge range of 0-7p / minute. Is that just guidance or law?

Charges are guidance only.

Use sites such as "saynoto0870" to find none premium numbers.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Additionally, the link you posted states a "service charge" and an "access charge".

It further shows that 55p/min is the access charge levied by O2.

Thanks MI5 for the response. The o2 bill clearly states it's a service charge and not an access charge. Is a  50p / minute service charge for an 0843 number defensible when the number is on an electricity bill and no mention is made of the service charge?

@tortoise

It's the electric company that is responsible for demonstarting the service charge.

Whether the access charge is defensible or not is a question for O2.

@tortoise Hi, your electricity supplier should provide a help number that is at least standard rate.

Most suppliers help lines are free.

Did you check the sayno site for an alternative number?
