using Pay As You Go out of EU zone

Anonymous

Hi there! I'm in TUR now and 'mobile data' on my phone is blinking, 'data roaming' is open, APN switched to 'O2 PREPAY' but still no internet connection. At Help&Support search I saw this country is among O2 Travel but it's valid for Pay Monthly customers. So, did any Pay As You Go customer face this problem of not able to use their balance in other countries? and what is the way of using of my remaining mins&data abroad? Why can't I make use of the data although phone shows it's working?  Thnx in advance and wish u all a nice weekend!

You need to pay for the daily travel bolt onso you need credit on the phone.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Hi @Anonymous You may have a bar on roaming.

If you are having problems then you need to contact customer services https://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

As you cant use O2 travel you will be charged international rates http://international.o2.co.uk/internationaltariffs/travelling_abroad

The fact you aren't able to use mobile data probably will require a call to CS if honest

@MI5Thnx for quick response! However I have a balance of 980 texts, 230 mins and 935 MB already. Should I pay an extra to make use of them? If yes, then the bolt ons for calls+texts and data are separately given, so I should pay separately for each?

@AnonymousO2 Travel is only available for Contract customers. Apologies. You will pay international rates

You haven't got much data left to be using abroad  so you may need to add an additional bolt on. Otherwise pay the rates as shown in my post . Is there no wifi to use where you are?

If you are having problems then follow my advice and give Customer Services a call from the numbers in the link https://www.o2.co.uk/contactus  They will tell you if you have roaming activated and can also advise on other problems

Yes, your balance is irrelevant when outside of the EU.

You need credit and/or bolt ons depending on the country you are in.

I certainly would be switching mobile 📱 data off until you get back to the UK at £7.20MB if you decide to top the phone up to call or text back to the UK, otherwise any credit will be used up immediately by the apps using data in the background to update.

Best to use wifi only at the hotel, restaurants, and bars.
