O2 SMS Message: You need a balance of at least £10 to renew your bundle or it will expire

Hi
I received the following message from O2:
"You need a balance of at least £10 to renew your bundle or it will expire".
I started using the sim card a month ago (October 14). And I only use it to receive sms messages.
If I don't top up now, will I lose the number?

My understanding is that I only need to top it up once every 6 months.  I'd appreciate some guidance.
Regards

You won't lose the number if there is insufficient credit to renew your bundle

You won't be able to text or call but will be able to receive both.

Hello there @Classicus

That 6 months and top up 999 days only applied to the Classic Sim which is not offered now.

So the information you had from o2 is correct.  You will need to top up.

Thank you jonsie &TallTrees for your replies.

I am a complete novice, please forgive me for asking this: is there a way to text an enquiry to O2?

Hi jonsie,
I was told a month ago on this forum by a reliable member that I wouldn't lose the number as long as I top it up every now and then (6 months I think).  Today's message from O2 made me a bit confused and I just wanted to double-check.  If it is absolutely certain that I will not lose the number then that would answer my question.  Regards

@Classicus

Definitely you will not lose your number after just one month.

Advice you were given previously sounds good 👍
