Dont buy PAYG if you might want to unlock it for new network! Any way of not having to do that?

I cant believe you have to wait 12 months and then get charged £15! I wish I had known that before choosing this network!

Is there any way round that? And is it a year since you bought the phone or a year since that sim?

@UK_sparrowIt's 12 months since you started using the phone (so it was registered on the network)

Borrow someone’s contract sim and use it in the phone for a day.
Once registered as a contract it will be free and immediate to get it unlocked.

Most networks operate the same way when you buy a payandgo phone through them. Always buy from an independent as a general rule.

I must have been lucky, as free from Lebara and 3, so expected it to be.

Lebara don’t sell phones do they? And I’m pretty sure Three don’t lock theirs at all anymore.
