Classic PAYG

I have had Classic PAYG for many years and only use it for banking (account access code).

I pay £10 every 6 months but there are never any call charges as I do not make calls.

Is there any way to save money? And can I automatically pay for the top-up when required (I have to diary it at the moment).

Thanks.

Mike

@mungodaisy

You don't need to top up every 6 months.

The only requirement is to make a phone call at least once every 6 months to keep the sim active.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

I can see that there is a contradiction between two sections:

HELP/PAYG/CLASSIC  and TERMS & CONDITIONS/MOBILE/PAYG/SERVICE TERMS.

Could you have a look and let me know what you think?

Thanks,

Mike

We know and it's wrong for the classic tariff.

It relates to bundles where you have to top up to make a call.

I've not topped up my Classic sim for over two years now since first registering it by topping up

I simply make sure I make a chargeable call every six months

You won't get a refund for pay and go credit

The only time credit can be refunded is if you tranfer to pay monthly

That takes me back @mungodaisy !

I used to have a BT Cellnet mobile in 1999, my very first mobile phone before it changed to 02, when Pay as you Go phones first started. (it used to have an aerial that stuck out and could only clip to my trouser belt. It wouldn't fit in my trouser pocket, and only just fitted in my larger coat pocket!)

I too had to keep a diary of when I topped up my balance - at that time I had to top up at least £10 every 6 months to keep the mobile phone active and had to mark in the diary when the top up was next due - counting six months ahead and marked it in the diary accordingly! But that changed a few years later and now you only need to make a chargeable call or text at least once every 6 months to keep the phone active - and if you are on Pay and Go can top up when you like. I still write in my diary when I've topped up, as sometimes 02 Customer Services ask me the date when I last topped up, but I no longer have to go through each page in the diary counting the next 6 months!
