ive just brought a new apple i phone 6 im putting my sim ccard in and it says theres no sim card in there ? i can make any calls which i need to do ASAP

Is the sim active?
Can you try it in another phone?
If you have a new sim it might need to be activated using a sim swap http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/
