Hi,

Can anyone please tell me if an O2 contract free SIM card will work in a mobile router ?

For example, if I was the buy this SIM card:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B079Z95P2X/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza?th=1

Would this work in a device like this ?  I presumed it would, but I read a couple of reviews that said these SIM cards only work in phones.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/TL-MR6400-Unlocked-Configuration-Required-External/dp/B016ZWXYXG/

Many thanks for any help

Paul

That looks like a standard pay as you go sim @PHollers

You need a data sim - like these:

https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/sim-cards/sim-only-deals#deviceType=phone&contractLength=Featured?tab=broa...

@gmarkj  Thank you,  I notice during the checkout procedure, I am asked if my device is "5G ready" but these mobile routers are not, so providing I answer "no" to that, should this work ?

Many Thanks

Paul

It shouldn't make much of a difference to be honest @PHollers

5G sim cards will also work on 4G (and older bands). 4G ones just won't recognise the 5G signal.
