Whilst we do not know what switch-ons are planned for new masts on the community forum (as @MI5 noted - we are, after all, just customers here, like yourself):
You can use the tips in this Guide: How can I sort out my network issues? to keep poking O2 about it, though, @Gillbridgwater - a quick check on a random SY16 postcode just now shows O2 think all is in order:
