Mobile Number Transfer

I currently have a mobile number for my son under my O2 account.  I have just found a way to set up a separate direct debit so he can pay for his SIM only arrangement (rather than me).  Is there a way I can actually transfer his mobile number into an account in his name?

No you can't.

As he's new to O2, he would need to undergo credit checks to take out a new contract in his name.
