Is the mast being upgraded

Anonymous
Not applicable

I just requested my PAC code to change network as I need 3G coverage but O2 only serves 2G. The representative I spoke to gave me the code but mentioned the local mast was in the process of being upgraded to boost 3G in the area.

Of course, it's impossible to confirm if this is true or when the work might be complete. Does anyone out there have means to find out? I'm a couple of months away from the end of my contract so it would be more cost effective to stay with them if I'll have 3G in a week or two...

The area in question is Bar Hill, Cambridgeshire.

Hi.

O2 don't give out this info I'm afraid to us here. We are all customers like you.

The official line is http://www.o2.co.uk/connectivity/network-coverage/the-next-big-thing

It's a case of checking your service status.

http://status.o2.co.uk

Right now it says it's patchy. 😞

As part of the 4G commitment O2 have to supply a min of 2mbps to 98% of the population by the end of 2017. The work has started so you could get an improvement tomorrow or it could be December 2016......
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Be aware that your PAC is only good for 30 days. If you did decide to stay with O2 until nearer the end of your contract and wanted to leave then, you would have to call to request a new PAC.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
