E169 rubbish compared to Novatel MC930D

My trusty MC930D is away for repair. Meanwhile O2 sent me the E169 which I was loathed to have. The performance of the E169 on my Mac is just a fraction of the Novatel. I'm really disappointed and worried the Novatel might come back as another E169.

Oh boy, as I feared O2 sent back the inferior E169 which doesn't support HSUPA as the Novatel did (HSUPA is available in my area). Since I can't have a decent modem I've cancelled the account and taken a loss on the £99 I paid for Novatel. If I can't find a mobile broadband service that does not use this poor quality Huawei modem I'll just wait until providers see sense. I don't want cheap but I'll pay for quality.

In the same location just look at the comparison Novatel versus Huawei:

Not an expert on mobile broadband but I would guess if the modem is not simlocked then it should work on any network. Like mobile phones and as o2 did support the 930d then the connection manager etc should work but I would see if anyone else has a comment.

I'll give it a go - I don't need connection manager or the drivers, Snow Leopard supports Novatel natively.

It sends SMS messages too - I didn't have that before so have to see how much they cost when the bill comes in.
