DNS issues, losing connection regularly

Anonymous
Not applicable
This has been going on for weeks now. It used to be on Saturday nights, now its every night between 9 and 10pm. I either lose connection completely for a few minutes or most websites just don't load. Steam, MSN, XBL etc all still work, and some sites do load but with css errors. When is o2 going to sort this out? Everytime I ring them they say my line has been connected the whole time. This isn't the first time o2 have had dns issues. I thought it was all sorted last time!

try OpenDNS.

I've heard there been issues for a while with O2 DNS servers. Have used OpenDNS for about 2 years now with no issues.

I can also suggest it@home DNS as an alternative.

I have/had difficulties because the O2 and Be DNS won't resolve some websites. Just switched to the it@home DNS and it seems instantly better. Thanks for the info.

O2 and be realy do need to sort their DNS - it's rather embarrassing really. Shame - it's probably just down to a couple of technicians who aren't as clued up (or diligent) as they should be.

You are totally right, we are paying for working servers and shouldn't have to change to others. 😐

It@home are pretty good aren't they, no redirections they just work.

Yes, so far I am really impressed. The DNS seems really accurate and quick too!
