Hello,

Ilost my phone a few weeks ago and I'm now trying to sort a claim for it with my insurance provider. They need proof that I have locked the phone.

I have now switched phone providers and transferred my old number onto my new sim and new phone. i was just wondering if O2 could still lock the old sim? even though I have changed numbers.

Your phone and sim will have been blocked so no-one can use it....

If you have transferred your number to a new provider then ordinarily you need to contact that provider to get the sim locked. However, as you have transferred the number then the old sim will now be blank and unusable. O2 can still block the phone but they won't provide proof. The insurance company will check with customer service that the phone is IMEI blocked and that the O2 sim is blocked. Call them immediately as normally the phone has to be reported stolen within the first 24 hours.
