I have just set up a second iPhone which will

 Be my work phone. I’ve done this so the parents of my children won’t have my personal number. However testing out the new number my partner text it and the message went through to my personal phone as well as my work number. How do I stop this ?

It will sync to both phones through your Apple ID but both numbers won't be visible to people who contact you.
