Another accident
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/alton-towers-rollercoaster-crash-live-5809187

Now, I'm no prude, I love coasters as much as anyone, but I'm telling you now, that ride is not safe.
It's had numerous failings, bits of track falling off, multiple carriage stops and it didn't even fit together correctly when being constructed.
It's about time this ride was given another safety inspection.

I agree about the health and safety inspection. A family member went on this and he loves roller coasters. He just said he hated this one. It broke down at one point...

It'll be getting inspected now that 4 people have been airlifted to hospital with smashed legs.....

Just been reported that some of those are 'looking at life changing injuries'.....I suspect we know what that means. slight_frown

Also said that they remained open for the rest of today.....but would close tomorrow. How considerate of them! Evil

Wheelchairs then.
I know from the eyewitness that the front row buckled on impact enough to blast out the flooring made of steel.
It's about time they cut losses and tore that thing down, I feel safe on every coaster on earth I've had the opportunity to ride, but from the day I saw them force that thing together because it didn't fit, I've maintained I'll never ride it as it's unsafe. Ive yet to be proven wrong.

I wont go on them now. My lads went on all the big ones in Florida. Universal Studios Duelling Dragons made me feel physically ill watching them on that. It just seems there is a competition going in all the parks to get the biggest/highest/ fastest one ready to open for the season....Obviously cutting corners

Nah, some places cut no corners and no expense either.

TBH...I don't think places like Disney and Universal cut any corners at all. I watched a documentary about 'thrill rides'....and their testing and maintenance schedule was above reproach...
