I just had three calls in quick succession, two from a withheld number and one from 020 3695 6738, saying they were calling from o2 and “because of Covid” they wanted to offer me a 50% discount on my bill. Seems like a scam? After I said that, he called me back twice!

Definitely a scam @Fiona80

o2 have some "trusted partners" that they share customer details with. It would be one of those calling and trying to get you to sign on to a new deal - quite possibly a business tariff that would not be suitable.

Do not agree to anything offered to you on a cold call!

Please note, this is not customer services and we cannot access your account. Do not publish personal details (email, phone number, bank account).

I have just a call as well about this 50% discount and said sending a code which came through from O2, but then asked me security questions so I hung up as did not trust it.  Is this a scam 028 8277 7026 was the number can someone help and how do I get in touch with an actual person at O2 to ask?

Look at the answer given before your post. It's a scam. You did well to put the phone down.

Our advice is NEVER accept a phone from a cold caller.

Hi Fiona80 looks like it is doing its round again.  I got a call yesterday from them offering me 40% discount, just wondering what can they do with any information as they knew how to get into my O2 account.  I have changed the password but what would be the purpose of it.  Did not give any other info?

If you think you’ve been the victim of fraud – whether it’s because you’ve given details to someone over the phone, or clicked on a link in a suspicious text or email there are things you can do:
Contact your bank if you think you may have given out financial information. They can help protect your account and stop transactions.
Change your account and online account passwords. Not just your O2 account. All of them.
Forward fraudulent texts to O2 for free on 7726.
Contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
Call your Virgin Media or O2 customer services number if you think somebody’s taken out a contract using your details.
Virgin Media customers can phone 150 from their landline or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.
O2 customers can call 202 from their O2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any other phone.

You can block the number that called you, or any number you think may be suspicious.

Had a call from 01617679101. Difficult to even understand. But after letting him do the talking and then his so called manager, put the phone down
