Some of you will remember I posted last week about the wonderful advances in the battle against cancer

http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Off-topic/A-good-week-for-Cancer-Research/m-p/883113/highlight/true#M55...

It seems the good news keeps coming. This time it is about new drug developments relating to Melanoma (the most advanced type of skin cancer)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-32951892

A pair of cancer drugs can shrink tumours in nearly 60% of people with advanced melanoma, a new trial has suggested.

An international trial on 945 patients found treatment with  the medicines ipilimumab and nivolumab stopped the cancer advancing for nearly a year in 58% of cases

The Royal Marsden Hospital was heavily involved in the research project

Just watching the news again and it's making headlines. Doctors are saying the results are spectacular. This is because of the rate the melanoma is shrinking using this drug regime.

I just hope we can carry this further by asking the drug companies to cap the cost of the drugs. This has been a problem in the past. Health Authorities who have to fund the purchase of specialist drugs often find themselves playing a lottery.  I am so against this.
