you may not know his name, but you will know his work on tv

Are You Being Served - Allo Allo - Dad's Army (I think)

he has said he got the idea of Grace Brothers, after using his experience when working in a London department store called Simpsons = he got fired for selling soft drinks in the changing room

he was briefly married to Joanna Lumbley who said he was a charming man & they should just have had a riotous affair

I remember him on the USA Rowan & Martin's Laugh In = I suppose every American's idea of the quintessential Englishman

I am posting this from what I have heard on BBCR4 recently, & will leave it to others to post a blue link if they choose
