I have been with O2 for many years and have been out of contract for many months.  I am considering buying a new Sim Only deal from O2 but have a very basic question.  If i buy a new Sim Only contract, do I receive a new physical sim and then have to activate it or is everything just done "over the air".

Thanks for any help.

Yes it is all done on the back end so need to change sim card, unless you have a 5G handset and want to make use of 5G.

So sit back upgrade and let o2 do all the work slight_smile

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

hi - you can ask for an eSIM, which means you scan a bar code to activate the new contract, but you'd need to check your mobile handset if up to date to accept an eSIM. You can put you mobile make and model into a search engine with the word eSIM to find out.
