hi, hoping anyone could shed some light. I live in the sticks and recently changed phone from an old huawei to a Samsung S8. Reception wasn't great before but now all I get is "no connection". Impossible to make or receive any calls whilst at home now. I've looked at boosterbox but feeling my broadband may be too slow to cope with it. Can't understand why a supposedly better phone won't work like my old one?

You wouldn't be allowed a boost box with O2 unless you are a business customer

Meanwhile check these  https://www.o2.co.uk/coveragechecker

You can also download the my network app where you can report faults etc https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/my-network

Finally have a look at this guide Guide: How can I sort out my network issues?

Edited to add, you don't mention whether the phone actually works at all?

If not, you need to call o2  (borrow a phone, use a landline or SKYPE o2.) All details are in this guide Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support

You could try wifi calling https://www.o2.co.uk/connectivity/wifi-and-4g-calling

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)
