Hello, I just got a call from 0845 8520628 to propose me to get a discount of 20%, which looks great!
I was requested, first to change my password to 22446688 which was given to me the caller. After that, I was told that I will get a discount and will be paying 24 a month. and I was told that one pound would be deducted from my bank account and that I have to give my debit card details. I have not yet given my card details.

I would like to get your kind confirmation that this was not a scam.

Kindest regards,

Erick-Bayard Rwantango

@Erick This is not O2. This is a customer community. IF YOU HAVE GIVEN OUT THAT INFORMATION YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMMED!!!!!

If you think you’ve been the victim of fraud – whether it’s because you’ve given details to someone over the phone, or clicked on a link in a suspicious text or email there are things you can do:
Contact your bank if you think you may have given out financial information. They can help protect your account and stop transactions.
Change your account and online account passwords. Not just your O2 account. All of them.
Forward fraudulent texts to O2 for free on 7726.
Contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
Call your Virgin Media or O2 customer services number if you think somebody’s taken out a contract using your details.
Virgin Media customers can phone 150 from their landline or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone.
O2 customers can call 202 from their O2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any other phone.

You can block the number that called you, or any number you think may be suspicious.

Good you haven't given card details. However, If you did do as they say with the password you need to change it again NOW.

You also need to make O2 aware of what has happened

Phishing, Smishing & Scams. Latest info & advice.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Hi all

Merry Christmas to you all

Thank you for your kind help.

All sorted.

Contacted 02 for security review. Still need to contact the counter-fraud authority.

Have a good one all. Cheers!

Erick
