Hello,

I'm a British national who got a 2 year contract for handset and sim in november 2021 for an iphone 13 pro max. I've paid off the contract now but I've been living in China for the past 8 months and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future, I need to cancel my sim, however, I can't call or use the chatbot because I live in China. How can I get in touch with someone through email to cancel my airtime plan? And is it possible to retain my number shall I ever return to the UK as I use it for security reasons like if I forget my email password?

Or Skype Guide: A Guide to Skype if you prefer.

Switching to PAYG will enable you to keep the number but chargeable activity will be required every 6 months to keep the sim active.

Is that actually the case @MI5 ?

Given that Classic PAYG is a legacy tariff that is no longer available, I cannot see any alternative when switching to PAYG other than to go onto either a Big Bundle or a Rolling Plan. And on these tariffs, the minimum payment required to keep that number alive would be £5 per month ?

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick ? 😀

Yep, wrong end of the stick.

Chargeable activity is covered by a top up, so one top up every 6 months will keep it going.

Reception will remain possible for the 5 months without an active bundle.
