I renewed my contract but wanted to keep my original number simple!! That was in December , but was issued a new SIM card with a different number . I eventually got my original number back working last week after much phoning and chatting online hours spent on phone . Eventually going to 02 shop. l explained I only wanted the new number deleted and my original number back . They are now charging me for cancellation of my contract and opening a new contract !! I did not cancel the contract only the number they issued by mistake . It was an error they made with my original order . I’m supposed to contact this forum as part of the complaint . The bill is pending on 8th April.for £76 it seems there is no way you can get satisfaction.

@Wits-end This is not O2. This is a customer community. No one here has access to anyone else's account. Complaining here gets you nowhere. Whoever advised you to come here is either lying or they don't know what they're talking about. You need to speak to customer service.
Call 202 from your mobile or 0344 809 0202, 0800 902 0217 (Payment Management) or 0800 032 1402
When it comes to the reason you are calling, stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
Say 'Upgrade', 'Lost/Stolen', or 'Fraud' if the suggestion above doesn't get you through.
Best time to call is 8 am.
You can also reach O2 via social media:
Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB), Twitter (now X) (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW), or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG)

You also have the option of lodging a formal complaint: How to Complain | Help | O2 It has been said that going this route takes eight weeks to receive a reply, but I don't know if that's correct. I do know that customer service can no longer respond if you do go this way.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
