You are allowed one free change and this has to be done via customer services on 202 from your o2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any other phone.

I have just requested a number change and been told that this service is no longer available, I shall be moving provider in due course.

@baz3 I would try calling again, as the person you spoke to must certainly have that wrong. If you are receiving harassing or menacing calls you can't be expected to keep that number. That would be an extremely bad policy.
