Have you spoken to CS on 202 about this ?
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I wouldn't accept that if honest (unless it is in small print somewhere? )

Contact customer services and dispute it again

Also have a look at this thread about Refer a Friend

http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Welcome-News/O2-Refer-a-Friend/m-p/584188/highlight/true#M7280

I have just checked the terms and conditions in the above link and they are correct sadly

Referred friends must buy a Pay Monthly contract online, directly from O2.co.uk for both parties to become eligible for the referral reward. This offer is not valid if redeemed in store, over the telephone or via third party sellers such as The Carphone Warehouse

Well it looks as if you aren't eligible then....which as you say is damn annoying. I can't see why it should be any different if honest. O2 have another customer (via your referral)  whichever way you look at it...:smileysad:

It's a shame the rules are so restrictive, it shows how much you have to read before applying for any offers.

And I have to say those terms and conditions weren't that easy to get into.  I put in a search for refer a friend...it brought up another thread with the link I gave...but then in that link you had to find T's and C's to find the para I pasted on here...Confused
