phone stolen, may have insurance but how do i find out?

i had my phone stolen in town last night, my ex bought me the phone and i remeber him sayin something about the insurance on it. how can i check if i have insurance on it as i dnt have the reciept i still have the box and everything. i work 7 days a week so getting into my nearest shop will be awkward

any help[ greatly appreciated

If it's o2 insurance customer services can tell you if it's on there, call them on 0870 600 3009.

If the phone came from carphone warehouse, phones4u etc it'll probably have their insurance, o2 won't be able to clarify this for you though. You'd need to contact the retailer seperately to find out.

thanks, yeah it will be with o2 if it is i cna remeber the bag ill give them a buzz, also are you aware of whether ill be able to move my old number to a new sim card? iv had the same number for about 5 years so it wud be awkward to change

Yes you'll still have your old number you'll be provided with a new sim which when activated onto your account will automatically have your number on it.

Just in case you are insured you will need to have reported it to the police and got a crime number, and to O2 to place a bar on the sim card.
