Why is O2 charging me nearly £200 more for my new iphone Max? Apple costs £1449 O2 £1623.99p!!!

Just upgraded under free upgrade plan but now reading through the documentation I see are supposedly offering me my upgrade interest free, great but then you dig into the figures and for the gold iPhone XS Max 512gb Apple cost is £1449 but O2 are going to charge me an additional sum on top of £174.99p!!!! my total repayable is actually £1623.99p!!!

what the heck are they playing at, think its time to cancel the order and give them the big finger! Christ i know we have the Apple tax but it now seems O2 has invented a new one APPLE/O2 tax! This is basically interest charges via the back door! Time to move from O2 after 11 years with O2!

We all agree with you but it’s the Refresh credit agreements one for the phone then another for the airtime tariff. Read my guide to O2 Refresh here https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Discussions-and-Feedback/A-Guide-To-O2-Refresh/td-p/877701

its got nothing to do with refresh contracts! If you read my question properly you will see it has nothing to do with airtime bill charges. This is specificly to do with the device charge alone! I am being charged my airtime bill part of contract which is X amount, I am also beingb charged another amount for device cost, it is that cost i am talking about, 36 payments which are supposed to be interest free come to £1623.99p yet apple ONLY charge £1449. O2 is charging me an additional £174.99p for the phone! That is what is discgraceful attitude from o2! The dont charge this premium on my ipad I updated three days ago!

seems my business of £170a month is not good enough for them! time to cancel and move elsewhere! robbing buggers

If you are within the 14 day cancellation period then go for the deal that suits you best.

@Sunderlandafcla

You certainly will find it cheaper elsewhere. CPW for example.

Or even giffgaff where they allow you to buy the phone in monthly instalments and you could then go with whoever gives you the best sim only deal.

Just compare their prices and go for what suits you best.

Best of luck thumbsup

@Sunderlandafcla You must have known what the charges were and the difference in price before you agreed to the contract didn't you? O2 will charge what they charge because they can. If you don't shop around, whose fault is that? If you're still within your 14 day cooling off period, you can cancel. If you've gone past that date, I'm afraid you're stuck.

Doing our 12 month upgrade at Apple this year for those very reasons. You pay £2500 if you take a 64gb max over 3 years, which ain't gonna happen!
Phone from Apple and a SIM only from O2 this year.
